Mix It Up!

You see it everywhere, in the fashion and design world alike:  mixing up patterns and textures to create bold and confident looks. Designers everywhere are embracing this confident new design trend, drawing inspiration from around the world.

The key to keeping your space from looking like a random mess is being mindful of a color palette and scale of the patterns. An easy way to get started on mixing things up is to stick with a monochromatic color scheme and change up the patterns and textures of your fabrics, such as you see in the photo of the “blue bedroom.” When playing with a variety of colors, keep a common palette in mind to incorporate throughout the space so everything ties together.

This is a fun and exciting design trend that’s going to be around for a while. So get out there and mix things up a bit!

Instant Architecture; Library’s with rolling ladders that will carry you away….

Ever wonder what to do with an empty ledge? Instead of sticking a tired floral arrangment up there consider this……

Make that wasted space super functional by turning it into a library!

Headboards!

I am solving a bedroom dilemma. It bothers me that the window behind my bed is not symmetrical. There is also the whole light issue and noise from the neighbors close by. Solution? Floor to ceiling upholstered headboard! I will post the finished product soon, in the meantime….a little inspiration for your viewing pleasure!

Stairways from Heaven

It is weird to be in love with stairs? You tell me….

I really can’t see these passing code, but very cool!

Vintage or Modern, which is it?

Definitely a happy marriage of both. You have seen it emerging. The new “it” style of design. Farmhouse chic with a modern industrial edge. Dusty grays paired with burlap upholstery. Exaggerated nail head trim, weathered woods, and lots of industrial inspired lighting. Personally I think when you mix your design eras you are on the right track, and in this case maybe onto something great! Here are a few fabulous examples….

Work Space

Dining Room

Bath

Love, love, love, these floors made out of old wine crates and stained the desired color.

This kitchen is perfection!

Lighting I found at market in Atlanta this weekend!
